Abstract
737,243. Sashes balanced by weights. FRADERA, F. T. Sept. 24, 1953 [April 25, 1952], No. 26328/53. Class 20 (3). A window comprises a rectangular frame member 2, Fig. 1, provided with vertical guides 1 in which an unframed glass pane 3 slides and is guided by its lateral edges, a pair of vertically extending rails 4, 5 fixed to, and supporting, the lower edge of the pane 3, a cord 6 attached to the bottom edge of each rail, passing over a grooved pulley 7, and carrying a counterweight 8, the pulleys 7 being situated in a plane slightly higher than that occupied by the bottom ends of the rails 4, 5, when the window is fully open. The pulleys and counterweights and also the rails 4, 5 when the window is complete y closed, are housed in a cavity 9 at the bottom of the window, which may have a detachable cover 10. A plate 11 partly conceals the top of pane 3 in both the open and closed positions, the pane 3 being operable by a handle 12. The guide 1 may be formed from a U-shaped metal section lined with felt.
