Abstract

1460721 Stays; windows; window stops J H BIERLICH 27 March 1974 [3 Jan 1973] 451/73 Headings E1J and E2F In a stay arrangement for connecting a movable member 1 (e.g. a window or door) to a frame, a longer stay 3 is pivoted at one end 3b to an elongate support plate 5 secured to the frame and the opposite end of the longer stay is pivoted at 3a to a plate 4 secured to the outer rebated edge of a sash stile of the movable member 1 and a shorter stay 2 is pivoted at one end 7 in a slotted member 8 formed at the upper end of the support plate 5, the other end of the shorter stay 2 being pivoted to the upper end of the plate 4. A guide pin 11 is carried by the stay 2 and slides in a channel formed by a curved edge 12 of the slotted member 8 and a guide plate 13 secured to the plate 5. The movable member 1 may be moved from the partially open position shown in Fig. 1 to a closed position in which the stays 2 and 3 are disposed in a vertical position and the pivot 7 is located in the upper end of the slot 9 in the member 8. A resilient stop member 20 is attached to the member 8 to limit the downward movement of the stay 2.
