One lifting cord 29 attached to the bottom sash passes over pulleys 20, 20a, and is secured to the handle 23, the lifting cord 31 on the opposite side passes over pulley's 18, 18<a> and 20<a> and returns to the same operating handle. The disposition of the lowering cords 33, 35 for the same sash is similar, these being secured to the sashes at their ends 34, 36. The cords 37, 39, and 41, 43 are similarly applied to the upper sash and operated by the handle 22. The sash frame is secured to the main frame by a T-headed spring .5 engaging metal channel secured to the sash frame. The windows have inner hinged sashes The sash cords are secured to the sashes by knotting and fixing the knot in a recess by a removable cover strip.
