Comabustion chambers, secondary; baffles; firebridges; air supply, regudating; ash-pits.-To effect combustion of the smoke and gases arising from the furnace of a boiler, a combustion chamber formed by a lining 11 with an inclined peripheral flange 9 at its rear end is arranged immediatelv behind the fire-bridge 2. A baffle 10 with an inclined upper edge is located at the rear of the lining. Air for secondary combustion is supplied to the combustion chamber from a passage 6 and nozzle 7 in the fire-bridge, the supply of air being regulated by a box-shape damper 4 which also serves as an ash-receiver.
