Abstract

125,768. Marks, E. C. R., (Fuel Saving Co.). April 26, 1918. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-The fuel is supplied by a steam or air blast at 48 to a depressed auxiliary combustion chamber 44 beneath the firebox of a locomotive or other boiler, which is fitted with a deflecting arch 46. Air is supplied through passages 50 in the rear wall and delivered through openings 53 beneath the rear of the arch, which is thus protected from the action of the flame. Air is also supplied through openings 55 and 56 in the side walls, regulating dampers being provided which may be connected together so as to be operated simultaneously. Air may also be supplied at the front through openings 54.
