Steam-generator furnaces; grates. - A water-tube boiler furnace is fitted with a uniformly inclined chain grate A, having dampers C for regulating the air supply to various parts of the grate, and arches D, D', the former of which serves to deflect the gases from the live fuel on the lower part of the grate on to the green fuel on the upper. The front arch D<1> is located nearer the grate than the rear one.
