Abstract
192,790. Kenney, N. J. H. Nov. 11, 1921. Limbs, artificial. - Consists of a joint giving freedom of rotation in at least two directions whose axes are at right angles. The invention is described as applied to a hip-joint for an artificial leg. A 3at bar a attached to the bucket x of the leg carries a swivelling stud b, to which is attached, by means of a pin c, a bifurcated member d which is formed with an upward extension d' serving as a bearing socket for a rod e attached at its upper end. by means of a plate f, to a body belt g. In a modified form, the bifurcated member d has a downward extension acting as a stop to (limit the rotation about the stud c. It is stated that the invention may be applied to a dearticulated shoulder joint.
