Abstract

Limbs, artificial.-The central supporting members forming the thigh and shank of an artificial leg are connected by a joint somewhat resembling the natural knee joint so as to have a combined sliding and rolling action. The members a, b may be held together by endless cords d passing over guide pulleys c, Fig. 2, and adjustable by means of set screws e engaging the cords by means of hooks or eyes, or the members a, b may be hollowed out to receive an internal tension spring g, Fig. 3. The curvature of the sliding faces a', b<1> determines the amount of angular movement corresponding to the relative sliding movement of the parts. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of a jointed quadrilateral to connect the two jointed'members. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
