[Class 99(i)] A ball-and-socket joint comprises a ball member 15 movable in a casing 10, a seating ring 17 in the mouth of a socket 13, a spring-pressed member shown as a seating ring 20 in the base of the socket, and a sealing-member shown as a copper ring 18 compressed between the casing and a bevelled edge of the ring 17 by the action of the ring 20. The spring comprises a number of dished spring washers 21 oppositely disposed.
