564,183. Pipe joints. ENSTONE & CO. (SUCCESSORS), Ltd., T. C., and CROOK, W. A. June 12, 1943, No. 9504. [Class 99 (i)] In a stuffing-box joint the sealing ring 12 is retained in the gland nut 15 by means such as a split spring ring 18 which releases it on the application of a predetermined force. The spring ring is of elliptical form engaging at its minor axis a rounded flange on the seating ring and at its major axis a recess 20 in the nut.
