[Class 52 (v)] [See also Group XXV] An articulated skeleton structure adapted to be embedded in or covered with flexible material to form a lay figure comprises a spine portion 1 formed of a chain of articulated double forked members a joined by pivot pins b, c at right angles to each other, and laterally extending shoulder and pelvis portions 3, 13, formed of universally adjustable forked cylindrical members to which are connected the arms and legs 4, 5, 9, 10. In the Figure the arm and leg at one side have been omitted. Friction washers x x x or springs x between the prongs of the steel forked members a retain the parts in adjusted position. The end members of the spine have two pivot pins c for the connection of the shoulder 3 and pelvis 13 which each comprise split cylindrical parts into which fit cylindrical members f, forked to carry the parts 4, 9. The wrist joint 6, 7 carries a hand-forming plate 7 with joints i, k for the thumb and fingers, which comprise small jointed forked members n. The foot, Fig. 12, is attached at 11 and comprises a plate 12 curved upwardly at 12<1> and provided with forked attaching members 12<2> and partspherical stamped members k to receive the toes. The forked members may be combined with ball joints t<2>, Fig. 7<a>, spring-pressed plungers z being provided to take up play. Flexible metal tubing may be inserted between the forked members to elongate the figure. The parts may be formed of a series of alternate tubes and hollow spheres held together by a central tension spring.
