Abstract

255,160. Masters, E. F. April 17, 1925. Limbs, artificial.-An artificial leg is attached to the body by two joints 4, 6 which allow the leg to move in two planes at right-angles to one another about a point at the position of the natural hip joint. The joint 6 is formed between an arm 7 which depends from a belt 8 and a curved arm 5 which passes round the back or front of the wearer. An arm 1 is pivoted at 4 to the arm 5 and is attached to the bucket 2 by a slide 3 to allow the leg to be given a rotary movement about the hip joint. The arm 7 may have a sliding pin and slot connection with the belt 8 and means may be provided for adjusting the effective lengths of the arms 1, 5, 7.
