Abstract

702,696. Artificial limbs. BLATCHFORD & SONS, Ltd. C. A., and BLATCHFORD, W. A. D. Sept. 11, 1952 [Sept. 11, 1951], No. 21376/51. Class 81(2) A "pylon" leg comprising a socket 1 and two side members 6 joined together at the bottom to form a foot 8, has the socket angularly adjustable relaytively to the leg members by having the latter pivoted to it as by brackets 3. The desired position is maintained by means of an arcuate strip 10, across the bottom of the socket, having a series of holes, through one of which a screw 14 is passed into a cross member 7 fastened between the two leg members. In the case of aboveknee amputation the pivots are placed as high as possible on the socket so as to approximate to the hip joint, while for below-knee amputation they are made to coincide with the line of the knee joint.
