Limbs, artificial.-The stump socket a is cut. away at the elbow or knee both at the back and the front, as shown at c and e, so as to give free movement, and is connected to a strap or band f on the upper limb by pivoted straps h. Elastic straps i, j are secured over the cut-away part of the socket, and a pair of elastic straps k connect the socket with the band f. A supporting-strap l is also fastened to the socket, the band f, and the shoulder, and another pair of straps p is con nected to the members h. An operating-cord n may be provided.
