Abstract

The joint can be locked as desired by means of a branking system, and incorporates a thigh piece (1) pivoting at one point (11) on the shin-piece (2). The two pieces can be equipped with supports (3, 15) to which the mechanical components can be attached. The invention gives a cripple greater stability when walking on a slope. The pivot point is in a position which corresponds to the position at which the patients real knee joint would be. The locking system includes a drum coaxial with the pivot and is only actuated when the artificial foot is placed on the ground.
