Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to straight-pull action rifles of the kind having means whereby the final portion of the locking movement actuates the sear to fire the gun. According to the invention, the sear-actuating means comprises a slide mounted on the breechbody and adapted to be moved forwards by a projection on the bolt-actuating sleeve. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the invention is shown applied to a straight-pull action of the kind described in Specification 7013/02. The sear-actuating slide B has an inclined surface adapted to engage a pin b<1> on the sear b<2>, and on the bolt-actuating sleeve A is an adjustable projection A<2>, which can be turned from the position shown in Fig. 1, in which the mechanism is adjusted for trigger firing in the ordinary way, to a position in which it will engage and actuate the slide B.
