6477. Marks, E. C. R., [Pohlig Akt.-Ges. J.]. April 30. Charging.-A blast-furnace charging apparatus comprises an annular hopper b for use with buckets i carried on an overhead rail track k, and an inner closure f for use with skips g raised by an inclined hoist, the rail track being formed to allow access of the skips to the inner closure. The hopper b is controlled by a bell c and is provided with a cover e. A portion of the rail track is hinged so that it can be moved out of the way of the skips g, and the cover e and the hinged portion may be interconnected, so that when the hopper b is closed, the gap in the rail track is open, and vice versa.
