[Addition to 16,237/10.] Charging; doors.-The charging - doors of refuse-destructors and other furnaces of the type described in the parent Specification, in which the fuel is fed to the furnace from a level above the furnace mouth, are mounted upon a trolly running upon rails, andtheir under surfaces are inclined in order to make a tight joint with the correspondingly-inclined mouth of the furnace. The trolly may also carry an upper door to close the bottom of the refuse-container. As shown in Fig. 1, the door E is suspended from the trolly F, running upon rails f, by means of slotted bearings, which, in conjunction with the inclined surfaces formed on the underside of the door and the rim K of the furnace mouth, allow a tight closure of the door. The trolly F may carry a plate D forming the door of the container B, or a device for operating a door attached to the container, as described in the parent Specification. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which a separate trolly C, connected to the first by a link e<1> carries the door D of the container.
