Cover of receptacle interconnected with loadhandling means.-In a charging-apparatus for blast furnaces comprising a skip 8 with a movable bottom, and a counter-weighted bell 1 at the mouth of the furnace, as described, for instance, in Specification 27,290/04, the bell is interconnected with and operated by the means for lowering the skip. In the arrangement shown, the weighted arm 5, which rotates the trolly 7 and lowers the skip, is connected by a rod 4 with the weighted lever supporting the bell. The rod is made in two parts connected by a spring so that the bell is not lowered until the skip is seated on the furnace mouth.
