Skips.-A skip, of the type in which the outlet doors are closed by gravity and opened by the weight of the material carried, is shaped like a vase of rectangular plan with the doors conforming to this shape. The skip 1 is suspended by chains attached to angle-irons 2 and has a bottom formed of two sloping plates 3. The doors 4 are hinged at 5 and are linked to a rocking lever 6. In the closed position, the rocking lever engages a stop 7 on a tilting lever 8, which has an adjustable weight 10. When the lever 8 is lifted, the doors fly open, and are held open when the lever is lowered, by the engagement of the lever 6 with the other side of the stop 7.
