Abstract
2401. Gaulin, A. April 14, 1914, [Convention date]. Driving.-A multiple-disk friction coupling is inserted between the main drive and the driven shaft to prevent excessive strain from being thrown on the separator on starting or during working. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the belt-driven shaft 1 is geared to a sleeve 5, which is coupled, by a multiple-disk clutch 8, to a shaft 6 driving the separator through gearing the strength of which is controlled by a spring 13. The clutch 8 may be used for starting and stopping. The intermediate gearing may be dispensed with, and the coupling may be combined with the driving- pulley. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also the statement that any friction or hydraulic or other coupling may be used; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
