15,676. Delacour, E. L. July 7. Variable-speed and reversing friction gearing. - A cone B drives a roller G slidably keyed on the driven shaft C. The shaft C, which is provided with a universal joint K, is pivoted at M and is pulled towards the cone B by a spring D so that the pressure between the cone and the roller increases as the speed of the driven shaft decreases. A reverse speed is obtained by means of a secondary cone F<1>, with which the roller G may be engaged through an intermediate cone F. The gearing is disengaged by a pedal P, which may also be arranged to apply a brake on the driven shaft.
