6899. McKeen, W. R. March 22. Clutches are provided with teeth so formed that the parts are automatically drawn together. As shown applied to a change-speed gear for a railway car or other vehicle in Fig. 1, the clutch piece 16 is keyed on the driven shaft 1 and is adapted to engage either of similar pieces 14, 15 secured to wheels 12, 8, loose on the shaft 1, and secured to the driving-wheel 4, respectively. Wheels 9, 11 on the shaft 10 gear with the wheels 8, 12. The clutch teeth are shaped, as shown in Fig. 5; with pointed ends and with undercut pieces 24 which draw the parts together.
