Abstract
22,558. Donkin, C. B., and Cox, H. J. Oct. 7. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors of the straight-through type having a sliding throttle valve, the throttle is so shaped that, in all positions of the valve, the air inlet is of decreasing area towards the nozzle. The throttle c moves transversely across the casing a and carries an extension c? which, in all positions of the throttle, forms an air-inlet passage which gradually decreases in area towards the nozzle b. The nozzle outlet is controlled by a rotatable cap b<1>, which may be actuated independently or in conjunction with the throttle. A cap-like portion c' on the throttle extension is adapted to seat on the nozzle in the closed position of the throttle. In a modification, the part c of the throttle, instead of being parallel to the nozzle, is inclined to it. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 7, the air inlet is controlled by two sliding valves c actuated by right and left handed threads, and one or more fuel orifices b may be provided. The Provisional Specification states also that hinged flaps or an elastic blade may be employed to form the air passage.
