Abstract
7145. Shortt, E. G., and Mason, M. C. March 25. Spray carburettors.-The mixture is formed by fuel supplied to the seating of the valve I which co-operates with a coned surface B<2> to regulate the amount of air passing. The valve I is controlled by a lever P moving a sliding sleeve K, which is pressed on one side by the spring R and on the other side by the spring R'. The latter opens the valve when the lever P is moved, and the sliding connexion enables the valve I to shut independently of the controlling-mechanism in the event of a back-fire. Attached to the sleeve K is a handadjusted needle-valve S which checks the flow of fuel as the valve I is opened. A disk valve I<4> enables the engine to suck air only when the vehicle it drives is coasting. The apparatus is contained in a casing with a hinged inspection door, permitting access for cleaning.
