Abstract

13,266. Buddicom, H. W., and Johnston, J. June 8. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. The suction - operated air valve of a carburettor has fuel ports in its seat, and in opening presses against a thin steel disk which drives it smartly back when the suction falls. The disk also forms a mixing-wheel, and the interior of the mixing- chamber is horizontally serrated. Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing the mixing-chamber a, jacketed for heating in any suitable way, and containing a throttle valve u. The air valve f and its seat h are formed in such a way that when the valve is open oil from ports o issues into a contracted passage formed between the valve and its seat. The steel disk t is rotated by suction, and acts in the twofold manner stated ; Fig. 4 shows the disk in plan. Air ports i, Fig. 3, placed above the valve f are controlled by a slotted ring k, held tight by springs m. The ring can be loosened, when it is to be adjusted, by a movement of the lever n.
