Abstract
21,952. Soc. M. Goudard et Mennesson. Oct. 8, 1912, [Convention date]. Fluid governors.-The fuel supply decreases with increase of engine speed and vice versa. To effect this, the fuel nozzle dips into fuel contained in a well open to the atmosphere and the depth to which the nozzle is immersed in the liquid is varied by the engine suction. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the nozzle d dips into the well b and is carried by a diaphragm e exposed to the varying pressure in the induction pipe c. Thus with an increase of suction the nozzle is lifted and the fuel supply diminished. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the nozzle is fixed and the fuel level in b is caused to fall by connecting the float chamber a to the induction pipe c by a pipe f. In a further modification, the float is dispensed with and an overflow pipe which serves also as a supply-pipe communicates with a fuel-reservoir placed below the chamber, a. The nozzle might be displaced and the fuel level varied at the same time.
