Abstract

12,851. Stalbridge, Baron Hugh Grosvenor. May 31. Spray carburettors.-An horizontal tubular chamber a has in its wall minute perforations f for the fuel, which are capable of being exposed or covered by a slotted piston c. The piston c is provided with slots g, h, i which correspond respectively with the perforations f, and with the air ports j, k. The openings are also controlled by a hand-actuated slide. The piston c serves also to throttle the induction pipe, a hy-pass c<1> being provided for slow running. An adjustable plug o determines the extreme position of the piston. The aggregate area of the perforations f amounts to, or slightly exceeds, that of a single jet suitable for the engine.
