Abstract

9774. Martin, W. E. April 25. [Addition to 131/11.] Spray carburettors.-In the parent Specification, the air inlet and a fuel slot adjacent thereto are controlled simultaneously by a sliding valve comprising a throttle and an air shutter combined in one structure in the mixing- chamber. The invention consists in providing a separate air inlet and valve, and in rendering the carburettor automatic. The fuel slot b, Fig. 2, enters the mixing-chamber d below which is the air inlet g. This is controlled by a rotatable valve h actuated by a lever h<4>. The valve may be adjusted axially to facilitate starting and slow running by a screwed sleeve h<3> to vary slightly the effective length of the slot g<1>. Control of the air and fuel is effected by a valve c actuated by suction through the piston e<2>. The area through the mixing- chamber is determined by the size of the rod e<1>. In a modification, the valve e is hand-actuated and slides over a fixed rod corresponding to e<1>. Specification 27,784/11 is referred to.
