Abstract
10,697. Dewis, W., and Zillwood, H. N. May 6. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors in which a spreader or damper e for fuel issuing from the nozzle h is capable of adjustment while the engine is running, the damper or nozzle, or both, is or are provided with a recess, groove, or hole so that fuel may pass to the carburettor when the damper is in its lowest position or covers the end of the nozzle. The throttle piston a is provided with a tube of small bore b, which fits partly around the damper and nozzle when the piston is in the position for slow running, in which position mixture passes to the engine through the tube b. The damper c is operated by means of a bell-crank lever l connected to the piston-rod u through a rod r and lever s; a washer v on the piston-rod engages the forked end y of the lever s, the arrangement permitting of a certain amount of lost-motion between the piston and the damper.
