Abstract

Water-tube boilers.-A boiler of the type in which an upper central steam drum is connected by inclined water-tubes to lower water-drums is provided with secondary combustion chambers formed by casings placed above and on the outside of the tubes on each side of the boiler. A steam-superheater may be fitted in the combustion chambers. In the boiler shown, baffles 10, 11 compel the gases to pass through the upper part of the water-tubes before entering the combustion chamber formed by the casing 12. After leaving the chamber, the gases pass downwards through the tubes around a baffle 13. A superheater 15 is fitted in the chamber.
