Hasp fastenings.-A hasp fastening for boxes, of the type in which the hasp carries a spring- controlled sliding catch adapted to engage with the eye of the staple, comprises a casing B soldered to a slotted plate L which is secured to the hasp X. In the casing is mounted a spring-pressed bolt A carrying a hook H, which engages in the hole of the staple J over which the hasp passes. The slot in the casing along which the hook H moves has a recess to retain the hook when it is disengaged from the staple.
