Abstract

9530. Moore, B. April 22. Door-holders.-A door-holder comprises a spring- influenced double catch adapted to engage a recess in the bottom of the door and also behind the door, and can be released only from behind the door. As shown, the catch consists of a spring d secured to a slotted plate b arranged over a recess in the floor, the spring d being provided with two jaws e, f, separated by a U-shaped recess g. The jaw e is rounded to permit the door, when opened to the required position, to depress the spring d. On further movement of the door, the spring rises, and the door is held fast by the engagement of the jaw e in a recess i on the door and of an abutment piece l on the door with the recess g. The catch is released only by depressing the jaw f by the foot ; and the jaw f is behind the door to prevent accidental depression of it. The catch may be locked by a padlock which is passed through a hole n in the jaw f. The catch may be used for holding a door in closed position.
