Abstract

Steam &c. turbines. - The casing A has a steam inlet H leading to two annular steam channels h provided with nozzles I each having a spiral guide k, which directs the steam into the L-shaped passages of the wheel B. Return channels J are arranged opposite the nozzles. The wheel is mounted on a sleeve D on the shaft C, and the wheel hub and sleeve have aligned holes containing spiral springs F. The springs allow the wheel to have a certain amount of play, and, to assist this freedom, the wheel is connected to the shaft by a clutch G containing friction blocks f adapted to be thrown outwards centrifugally and also engaging with a sleeve n which engages with the wheel hub.
