Be it known that I, JOHANNES Nnnnowskl, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, residing at Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony, Germany,'have invented certainnew and usefulllnprovemenis in Turbine NVhcels,
of which the following is a description.
The turbine wheels hitherto in use are constructed on the water-wheel system, with the modification that in view of the nature of the driving power the wheels were made very sin all ,and 'the blades arranged close together. It is, however, necessary in the case of wheels running at a very high speed, as with the De Laval steam-turbines, to take into consideration the strain put upon the wheel, owing to the centrifugal force, and this involves difficulties in the construction of such wheels which it is the object of thc present invention to remove.
In order to render the present specification easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which lsimilar letters of reference denote similar parts throughont the several views.

It will be obvious that a wheel of this construction will be very strong,owing to the fact that the centrifugal force will onlyprodnce radial and annular tension in the separatedisks. In the modification shown at Fig. 3 the thickness of the individual disks maybe varied-for instance, the inner plates may be of greater thickness. I claim as my invention- A turbine wheel composed o f a series of thin metal plates having a series of channels around their edges, clamping-cheeks to vhold said plates together and means for attaching 8o the whole to a driving-shaft, a peripheral ringto support and close around the edges of all the plates in the manner and for the pur pose substantially as described.
