135. Brat, P. Jan. 3. Circular-flow type; combined-flow type.-In a turbine in which the motive fluid is supplied to reaction nozzles in the rotor, the fluid issuing from the nozzles is redirected upon blades on the rotor by stationary guide-blades. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the steam issuing from the nozzles f in the rotor b is redirected by baffles g upon blades k behind the nozzles. As shown in Fig. 6, steam is admitted at d<1> to the nozzles f, and the stationary passages n deflect it into passages k in the rotor, and so on, thus producing a turbine of the circular-flow type. The nozzles f may be in the centre of the rotor, two sets of passages n, k being provided. A channel e<2>, Fig. 5, having a number of pockets e<1> is cut in the rotor between the entrances e of the nozzles f. In a further modification, the passages n deflect the steam upon radial blades on the periphery of the rotor, the steam being then further expanded in an axial-flow turbine of the ordinary type.
