Abstract

Radial-flow (bladed) type; blades, vanes, nozzles, and the like; casings; regulating.-In a turbine of the combined inward and outward flow type, the stator is formed of sections having conical surfaces which provide working chambers affording a steam passage of continuously increasing area. A series of throttle valves 29 is disposed between a steam ring 28 and the inlets arranged in the head 3. The stator is composed of rings 6<a>, 6b which successively increase in width and taper towards the shaft 1 in order to afford a steam passage of continuously increasing area through the turbine. Opposite to, and central on the head 3 by pins 13, is a ring 9 which is secured against the conical surface 11 of the adjacent ring 6<a>. Each rotor section 16<a>, 16<b> is separately secured to the shaft by keys or cotters 24. The forms of the rotor blades 30 and stator blades 14, 35, 36, 37 are fully described in the Specification.
