Carding-engines.-In a carding-engine of the kind comprising a series of slowly rotating card drums of large diameter each with its own group of workers, strippers, &c., the card drum c<3> is rotated in the direction of its teeth, and a single cleaning roller p<3> operates on the drum c<3> and the co-operating worker d<6>. The material is transferred to the rapidly-rotating main cylinder l either directly or by clearers i<4>, i<5>, and is subjected to a drawing action by the workers d<7>, d<8> and doffer n.
