[Class 120 (i).] A revolving flat carding-engine is provided with a combined stripping and sorting or cleaning device adapted to strip the flats and to sort or clean the material without the co-operation of the lickerin before returning it to the main cylinder to be re-carded. The stripping member is situated at B<1> the entrance of the carding run B<1>, B<2> and comprises a roller I, furnished with needles, and a high-speed fan K having two arms which are provided with needles L, the fan projecting the strippings against a grid M through which the heavier waste material passes to the chamber N, the fibres passing on to the main cylinder A. The flats may be driven in the same or in the opposite direction to the cylinder A. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an oscillating comb F, Fig. 2, (Cancelled), situated at B<1> the detached material falling on to the cylinder A ; an arrangement wherein the flats are stripped by a roller G, furnished with needles, Fig. 3, (Cancelled), and itself stripped by the cylinder A; and an arrangement wherein the flats are stripped by a high-speed fan H, Fig. 4 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
