Abstract

320,761. Hughes, J., and Brierley, S. Oct. 12, 1928. Carding-engines. -In a cotton carding-engine the web, as it passes from the stripping-comb to the calender-rollers, is positively agitated to precipitate foreign matter and short fibres from the web. A plate 2 is supported by arms 3, from the stripping-comb shaft 1 or from the arms 4 carrying the stripping-comb 6, in a position to cause the web 5 to lie in contact with it and to be defleated in its passage to the calender-rollers 7. The plate 2 carries a series of bars 8 inclined to the path of the web and, attached to ribs 9. A guide rod 11 may be provided above the web.
