Interconnecting guard or protector with starting-gear.-In a guard device for slubbing, intermediate and roving frames, hinged doors a are engaged by catches d pivoted at e and adapted to be locked while the machine is running by a sliding bolt g mounted in guides h on the sheet metal guard i and engaging holes formed in the upper arms of the catches, an arm k on the usual stop rod m preventing withdrawal of the bolt g while the driving belt is on the fast pulley. On shifting the stop rod and withdrawing the bolt g, the doors can be opened, the catches d then obstructing the return of the bolt g in order to indicate to the operator that the doors should be closed before re-starting the machine.
