Abstract

187,500. Shackell, A. Dec. 9, 1921. Reversing-gearing comprises stepped planet gears C carried by a disc B secured to a driving- shaft A. The gears C mesh respectively with a sun gear E secured to a driven shaft D and with a loose sun gear F<1>. The gear F<1> is fast to a disc F which can be slid so as to bring a friction cone F<3> into clutch engagement with a cone B<1> on the disc B for solid or forward driving. The disc F may alternatively be slid to bring a friction cone F<2> into braking engagement with a fixed cone G, when the gearing functions to drive the shaft D reversely. The invention is suitable for motor boats and vehicles and machine tools.
