Abstract

186,862. Davis, C. H., and Schweder, K. E. Dec. 6, 1921. Closure members.-In a screw-down valve of the kind having a ball arranged in a chamber below the valve seat, the floor of the chamber, which is shown as formed by the top of a screwed cap K, is provided with a groove or channel L to allow water to pass freely under the ball so as to lift it. The stem H of the valve C is provided with a screwed sleeve J which holds the washer I in position; the sleeve extends below the stem and serves to hold down the ball G. When the upper part of the valve and the valve member C are removed, the ball valve. C closes the valve aperture automatically and stops the flow of water.
