Abstract

186,166. Dorman & Co., Ltd., W. H., and Steed, 0. H. G. June 24, 1921. Swivelling points.- Relates to rotary fluidtight joints of the kind having a ball-bearing for taking the end thrust and a U-shaped sealing- waslier. According to the invention, the inner member 2 of the joint has rigidly mounted on it an annular abutment 4 which constitutes one element of the ball-race and also supports and protects the V-shaped washer 10. The other element of the ball-race is formed by a flange 14 secured to the outer member 7 of the joint. The abutment 4 is formed with a projecting rim 5 engaging a corresponding annular recess 6 in the member 7. Holes 21 at the base of the rim 5 allow fluid under pressure to pass to the inside of the sealing-ring.
