Abstract

207,999. Dorman & Co., Ltd., W. H., and Steed, O. H. G. Nov. 27, 1922. Swivelling joints.-A spigot and socket joint rotatable about the axis of the pipes that are connected is provided with a set of ball bearings on each side of a thrust member which is detachablv connected to the socket. In the Figure the thrust member 34 is secured between the parts 32, 33 of the socket and the ball races 35, 36 are fixed to sleeves 30, 31, respectively fitting on the spigot. The joint is rendered fluid-tight by the U-shaped packing ring 37 which is retained in position by a ring 38, grooves or openings 44 being provided to enable fluid to reach the packing.
