Abstract

182,184. Relay Automatic Telephone Co., Ltd., and Edwards, W. D. March 24, 1921. Electromagnets. - An electromagnet having a fixed core and an armature adapted to be attracted thereto is provided with mechanical means which normally produce little or no effect on the armature but which exert a part of the force required to hold the armature off normal, thus permitting a reduction in the holding current. Fig. 2 shows a relay having an armature A engaged by one arm of a latch B provided with an antifriction wheel E on which bears a spring F so adjusted that it exerts a part of the force required to hold the armature off normal position.
