Abstract

213,461. Garbarini, A. May 17, 1923. Thermionic amplifiers.-A second filament d is automatically connected in circuit on fracture of the main filament c. The filaments are mounted at one end on a common support e and at the other end on separate supports g, f so that when the filament c breaks the support g springs into contact with the support f which ma.y be bent as shown at f<1>. The supports g, f are spaced to allow expansion of the filament c. In another arrangement the winding of an electromagnetic switch mounted in the base of the valve is connected in series with the main filament, and an armature is released to close the circuit of the second filament when the magnet is de-energized owing to fracture of the main filament.
