Abstract
1,187,649. Automatic circuit-breakers. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. 18 Aug., 1967 [7 Sept., 1966], No. 38122/67. Heading H1N. A latched relay has contact spring sets controlled by an armature 6 which is held in its operated position by a spring biased pivoted lever 34 which releases the armature 6 when it is moved by the armature 24 of a release electromagnet; the armature 24 normally being out of engagement with the lever 34. Both electromagnets have E-shaped cores 3, 23 and U- shaped armatures 6, 24 and the end 7 of the armature 6 as well as the hooked end of the limb 35 of the lever 34 whichco-operates with the armature end 7 are chromium plated and polished. The release armature 24 is biased against a stop 37 by gravity and by a spring 38 which is mounted on the lever 34 and limits the response to vibration. A cover 50 provides a dust and moisture-proof housing with a base-plate 40 on which the assembly is mounted by insulating supports 41, 43.
