Abstract
1409198 Electromagnetic switch actuation or tripping HEINEMANN ELECTRIC CO 10 April 1973 [26 April 1972] 17071/73 Heading H1N An actuator for tripping a circuit-breaker of the type shown in Fig. 1 in which a latch 27 is released on pivotal movement of an armature 31 has an operating coil 40 surrounding a tube 41 containing a retarding fluid and a magnetic core 42 which has a valve 51, 52 in a bore 50 in the core which also has a resilient valve stop member 55 located in position by resilient engagement with the wall surface of the bore. The valve is a ball 51 which normally rests on a valve seat 52 out of engagement with the stop spring 55. The latter may be tapered with its top end longer than the bore 50 so that after insertion by a tool (not shown) on which the spring may be wound it is held in the bore as in Fig. 2. In an alternative arrangement the spring may be bent in the middle so that its ends and middle engage the walls of the bore (Fig. 4, not shown).
