Abstract

1,154,690. Electromagnetic relays; electrically released switches. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 29 March, 1967 [14 April, 1966], No. 14216/67. Heading H1N. An electromagnetic relay 5 is provided with an electromagnetically releasable latching device 7 arranged to retain the armature assembly 41-45 in the energized position; both the relay 5 and device 7 are also manually operable by push buttons 69, 95. The relay 5 and device 7 each have a moulded plastics casing secured to a metal chassis 9, 13, the latter being secured together by a screw 105. The device 7 has a rectilinearly movable armature 81 secured to an inverted U-shaped insulating member 95 the depending legs of which co-operate with arms 115 of a pivoted latch 109. The relay 5 has a rectilinearly movable armature 35 carried by a moulded insulating member 41 carrying spring biased bridging contacts 49 in apertures 47. The latch 109 has portions 125, which co-operate with surfaces A3, A4 of member 41 to retain the contacts closed, and further portions 127 which co-operate with lateral faces of member 41 to retain the latch in its released condition while member 41 is in its upper position.
